No Back Surgery (updated August 20, 2007)
The back surgery is off for now. We may look into this again down the road, but the local surgeon seemed ambiguous at the pre-op and openly expressed Michael might be better off doing non-surgical decompression, after previously expressing uncompromised certainty that this would be beneficial for him.
Dr Steenblock also supported the idea of not doing surgery right away, he would like to give the stem cells
more time to work on repairing his back, as well as repairing the damage from MS. He also liked the idea of Michael trying disc decompression, which he will start on
August 27, using a DRX 9000 machine. He will be doing this therapy for 6 weeks, he will be doing this in town, so we get to stay home.
